soleus muscle ( RID2924 )
There is a full thickness tear of the central tendon of the soleus with surrounding muscle edema. Medial head gastrocnemius strain was suspected clinically (it is the usual suspect), but in this case, there is chronic severe MHG atrophy, indicating remote injury. Apparently concomitant injuries to soleus and MGH tendon occur (as reported by Drs. Koulouris and Kavanagh), but Ive not recognized it. I wonder if the MHG chronic injury placed the soleus at risk.
