acromioclavicular joint ( RID1895 )
This seems to be a variant of ACJ separation, though the joint capsule (red arrow) may be sprained, but is intact and there is no joint widening. He completely delaminated the articular cartilage of the distal clavicle, which maintains continuity with the capsule, and the distal clavicle is cranially subluxed. There is stripping of the distal clavicular periosteum with subperiosteal hemorrhage. There is a strain of the trapezius. The cc ligament is intact. I presume this is treated no differently from Gr 2 ACJ separation, but I dont know if the long term sequela will be any different. Any experience with this sort of injury?
