Discussion
Nice MRI-US correlation of an acute scapholunate ligament tear. On US images, the dorsal band SL ligament is indicated by arrowheads and the tear by arrows. Note the tear is appreciated on 1st US image as a hypoechoic defect in fibre continuity and, on the 2nd US image obtained following dynamic assessment with applied ulnar-deviation stress, is also outlined by bright echoes secondary to induced vacuum phenomenon (a sonographic arthrogram).

Acute dorsal band scapholunate ligament tear
