58F with finger pain and swelling after fishing injury

The radiographs were misinterpreted as normal. The faintly mineralized dorsal fin of the fish can be seen radial to the thumb proximal phalanx near the IPJ. It is the linear dark signal foreign body in the palmar radial soft tissues on MRI (slide 2). US was not done, but would have been diagnostic and could have permitted marking the skin for localization. There are very few references of fish fin FB in the extremities. Far more interesting ones reporting complications of ingestion. Ive attached one with a good title and entertaining images. Reference article.
