Discussion

Keeping the theme of very subtle fractures. This fracture is easy to miss in the Cor and Sagittal plane unless you recognize the subtle marrow edema at the volar ridge. Cleary visible in the axial plane at the insertion of the transverse carpal retinaculum. These type II avulsions of the trapezium volar ridge may have a tendency toward non-union and may be a source of chronic pain.

Diagnosis

trapezium ( RID2193 )
