XRs show a small lobulated intracortical lucency of the anterior tibial shaft which looks non aggressive. CT shows smooth, low attenuation defects in the posterior proximal tibial shaft and anterior medial distal shaft that are related to a varix, clearly seen in the ST windows, coursing through the bone into the pretibial soft tissues. I presume her pain was unrelated. This has been described long ago by Dr. Boutin. Had I read it, I could have skipped the CT. Reference article.
